Switzerland has 'systemic' racism issues, UN experts say

Racism against people of African heritage is a severe systemic issue in Switzerland.

In spite of the positive steps Switzerland had taken, the U.N.-appointed working committee expressed....

worries about the persistence of racial discrimination and highlighted a number of incidences after visiting the nation this year.

It stated that "the pervasiveness and impunity of this misbehaviour suggests a severe systemic problem exists."

In remarks to the council, Switzerland's ambassador to the U.N. in Geneva generally agreed the findings.

The Vaud canton's deaths of many Black men were mentioned in the study, along with other instances of "shocking" police abuse.
